EVA Earns WTTC’s SafeTravels Stamp

Common standards help safeguard passengers, employees

The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) certified EVA Air with a SafeTravels stamp. On behalf of the WTTC, Taipei City Government awarded SafeTravels stamps to 35 organizations, including hotels, travel agencies and exhibition centers. EVA Spokesman David Chen accepted the stamp from Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je on behalf of the airline. EVA is now an official member of the international safe travel reception service chain.

United Kingdom-based WTTC worked with health professionals and other industry associations to develop protocols and establish common standards designed to help safeguard the workforce and travelers as the globe’s new normal evolves. The SafeTravels Stamp enables travelers to recognize destinations and businesses worldwide that have adopted these standardized global health and hygiene protocols.

WTTC has awarded SafeTravels stamps to more than 250 destinations around the world, including to Taipei City in February 2021. It also authorized Taipei City to lead its region’s tourism sector in obtaining international safe travel stamps.

EVA upholds rigorous COVID-19 prevention standards and continually enhances and improves the measures it employs. It has begun to introduce biometrics identification to give passengers no-contact boarding services. It is also working with aviation industry partners to implement a reliable digital platform for verifying passengers’ PCR test results and vaccine injection records. EVA’s efforts have been recognized not only by AirlineRatings’ “Seven Star Certification for COVID-19 Epidemic Prevention” and inclusion among the “World’s Top Twenty COVID-19 Compliant Airlines” but also by being awarded WTTC’s Safe Travels stamp. It is the only airline in Taiwan to have earned these distinctions. EVA is continuing to work toward a safe post-pandemic business and leisure travel restart, aiming to deliver the safest, most reliable services possible to its passengers.

EVA Air Launches Brand-New Cargo Website

Site offers accessibility, flexibility on all types of devices

EVA Air unveiled a new official cargo website today at www.brcargo.com. The carrier used Responsive Web Design (RWD) technology to give its new website the enhanced accessibility and flexibility it needs to be responsive on a variety of platforms. EVA has built it to deliver consistent services to users on different devices at the office, at home or on the go, using a mobile phone or tablet. The new website is available at www.brcargo.com.

EVA Air and Evergreen Airline Services Corp. (EGAS) both recently earned certification from the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA’s) Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics (CEIV Pharma). The impacts of COVID-19, including trends toward working from home, changes in consumer behavior and booming online shopping, created great airfreight business opportunities. The new website makes it easier for customers to check shipment status and flight schedules while online booking functions make EVA Cargo more competitive in the airfreight market.

Demand for airmail delivery has increased alongside substantial growth in e-commerce shipments brought about by the online shopping boom. The updated and improved website also has a special free login function for those inquiring about airmail status. By entering an EVA Cargo Air Waybill number, consignees and forwarders can access current shipment status.

EVA also refined the flight schedule inquiry page to enable users to check flight arrivals and departures for specific dates or weeks in a more intuitive way. Enabling flight numbers as search criteria enhances flight schedule search functions. At the same time, EVA is continually optimizing online booking features to make the process more efficient and facilitate use by cargo forwarders.

EVA’s new cargo website has an arching, curved design. The carrier replaced straight lines with wave-like curves that make blocks of information more fluid and vivid. It chose bright background colors to make information easier to read and main functions and messages stand out for easier access. It also added Google maps links, enabling users to locate EVA Air Cargo offices.

EVA worked for more than two years to develop its new website with user-friendly features and functions. By employing the latest webpage design technologies and incorporating users’ suggestions, it has added features that make it even more convenient to search schedules, book shipments and track status on all types of platforms. EVA is continuing its digital transformation as it makes every effort to always provide good customer service. The brand-new EVA Air cargo website is now live at https://www.brcargo.com.

EVA and EGAS Win IATA CEIV Pharma Certifications

Designation signifies excellence in pharmaceutical logistics

EVA Air and Evergreen Airline Services Corp. (EGAS) both earned certification from the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA’s) Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics (CEIV Pharma). This certification verifies the highest standards in EVA’s and EGAS’s cold chain air and ground service operations at Taoyuan International Airport (TPE). It also distinguishes EVA as one of the few airlines in the world to have obtained certification for air and ground handling operations simultaneously, strengthening its position as one of the leading global one-stop cold chain pharmaceutical product carriers.

EVA and EGAS have built-up deep experience in transportation and storage of high-tech and pharmaceutical supplies over many years, growing an average of 30% annually. EVA has reliably carried everything from wafer products that require shock-resistant containment and constant temperature control to vaccine shipments that must be kept as cold as -80°C within a certain humidity range for as long as 144 hours and continually monitored. Complementing its Boeing 777 freighters, EVA has expanded its airfreight capacity and network reach by using belly holds on passenger aircraft, including Boeing 777-300ERs, 787s and Airbus 330-300s.

EGAS is the only airline services operator in Taiwan to be awarded IATA CEIV Pharma certification. EGAS introduced cold chain transportation capabilities for pharmaceutical logistics services in 2018. IATA’s certification validates EGAS’ expertise and efficiency. It not only fulfills EVA’s cold chain transportation requirements but it also offers its services to other airlines operating to/from TPE.

IATA has led the industry to establish a certified pharmaceutical transportation network that meets consistent standards and assures product integrity. EVA’s and EGAS’s IATA CEIV Pharma certifications enhance the images of both companies, inspire customers’ trust and help advance COVID-19 vaccine delivery services globally.

EVA Again Ranks at Forefront of Airline Safety

Rated 9th by JACDEC, 6th by AirlineRatings in World’s Safest Airlines for 2021

Taiwan-based EVA Air ranks 9th among the world’s Top-20 Safest Airlines in the World for 2021, based on analyses by the Jet Airliner Crash Data Evaluation Centre (JACDEC). The latest ranking and assessments were released in the February 2021 edition of Germany’s “AERO International Magazine.” This honor follows EVA’s recent recognition as 6th in AirlineRatings.com’s World’s Safest Airlines for 2021.

Using its “Risk Index,” JACDEC evaluated 33 parameters for annual overall rankings by comparing a value for each airline’s accumulated operations with those of other carriers. It considered factors such as fleet age, IATA flight safety audits, serious flight accidents and flight losses over the past 30 years. Since JACDEC began releasing airline safety ranking in 2003, EVA has consistently ranked at the forefront in its top 100 safest airlines.

“EVA and the entire aviation industry are facing enormous challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic. As we work to provide necessary services during these trying times, we remain fully committed to safety management and training,” said EVA President Clay Sun. “EVA is honored to be recognized by JACDEC and AirlineRatings.com. This recognition is a credit to our conscientious, hard-working EVA staff and encourages us to continue to do our best to uphold the highest standards of safety in the air and on the ground without compromise.”

When EVA was established in 1989, it invested in flight simulators and cabin-training facilities to help its crew develop and continuously improve essential skills, placing extra emphasis on all of the details that help ensure flight safety. Since 2006, EVA has embraced an SMS (Safety Management System) and thoroughly incorporated safety into all processes and procedures. EVA also sets Safety Performance Indicators & Targets (SPITs) and undertakes quarterly evaluations to coordinate and further improve safety management.

EVA has made training its flight safety cornerstone. Though COVID-19 impacted 2020 operations, EVA maintained safety training. It conducted nine training programs for its entire staff, offering access to some on E-Learning platforms and further weaving safety into the fibers of its culture. EVA is unrelenting in its efforts to keep safety as the top priority for every staff member.

EVA has always endeavored to maintain the highest standards of flight safety as a core value. Through hard work over the past 30 years, recognition by JACDEC, AirlineRatings.com and other respected aviation authorities consistently highlights EVA’s noteworthy performance. The airline has also earned repeated certifications from IATA’s Operational Safety Audits (IOSA) that take place every two years. Travelers can learn more about EVA’s award-winning services, COVID-19 safety procedures and global route system or book flights at www.evaair.com.

EVA Voted 4th of World’s Best International Airlines

Travel + Leisure reader-rated on comfort, service, food, value

Travel + Leisure readers voted EVA Air in the Top-10 International Airlines of the magazine’s 25th annual World’s Best Awards reader survey. Based on personal travel experiences, readers were invited to rate airlines for cabin comfort, ground and inflight service, food and value. Survey results are available on the Travel + Leisure website now and will appear in the August 2020 print edition.

Travel + Leisure points out that 4th ranked EVA moved up one spot from last year as readers praised its service, food and premium economy seats. One reader had even higher praise for flying in sitting up front: “My business class trip from Chicago to Taipei was the best airline experience I’ve ever had. Steak cooked to order, hot food options between mealtimes, plush down comforters and tons of legroom. Some business-class seats have a very narrow spot for your feet when the seat is laying flat but EVA’s seats had enough space for rolling over and getting a great night of sleep.”

“We are grateful for all of the support from passengers around the world,” said EVA President Clay Sun. “We never stop trying to excel and aim to make every passengers’ flight delightful with services and experiences that exceed expectations. Now, as we work to address impacts of COVID-19 on our own operations and our entire industry globally, we are also doing our best to maintain basic services to most of our major destinations. We continue to pay careful attention to details while we are simplifying services and taking additional measures to help prevent infection spread. We thoroughly sterilize cabins and follow strict protocols to safeguard our passengers’ health so they can be confident when they choose to fly with us.”

Travel + Leisure conducted the annual survey between Nov. 4, 2019 and March 2, 2020. Readers were invited to participate through the printed magazine, tablet editions, newsletters, social media and at www.travelandleisure.com. It required a minimum number of responses for a candidate to be included in the World’s Best Awards rankings. In addition to airlines, readers voted for airports, car-rental agencies, cities, cruise lines, destination spas, hotels, islands, tour operators and safari operators.

In order of ranking, Travel + Leisure’s World’s Top-10 Best International Airlines for 2020 are Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways, Emirates, EVA Air, ANA, Air New Zealand, Japan Airlines, La Compagnie, Cathay Pacific Airways and Virgin Atlantic Airways.

EVA’s high standards for safety, service and cabin comfort earn high praise from multiple industry and government organizations every year. It has been recognized as 8th among the World’s Top-20 Airlines and 3rd of the World’s Top 20 Safest Airlines by AirlineRatings.com, 3rd in the World’s Best Airlines by TripAdvisor, 9th on the annual JACDEC Airline Safety Rankings and it has been recognized as a SKYTRAX 5-Star Airlines since 2016.

EVA Ranks 3rd in AirlineRatings’ World’s Safest Airlines for 2020

Among 20 at the forefront of safety, innovation, new aircraft launches

EVA Air ranks third among AirlineRatings.com’s top-20 World’s Safest Airlines for 2020. This marks the airline’s seventh consecutive year to earn a place among the global ratings website’s “safest airlines in the world.” The website’s comprehensive safety-rating factors include audits from aviation’s governing and industry bodies, government reviews, the airline’s crash and serious incident record, profitability, industry-leading safety initiatives and fleet age. EVA has not suffered any major accidents since its founding in 1988. From the start, it has made flight safety and service quality its priorities and has faithfully won awards and honors from organizations around the world year after year.

EVA Introduces New Inflight Amenities

Teams up with Ferragamo, Jason Wu for Royal Laurel luxury
EVA Air is introducing new Salvatore Ferragamo amenity kits for all Royal Laurel and Premium Laurel Class business passengers in both hard case and soft bag designs on December 1, 2019. The airline’s seven-year cooperation with RIMOWA is coming to a close at the end of November. EVA has also repeated its collaboration with internationally renowned fashion designer Jason Wu to create a second-generation of inflight sleepwear. And, in the first quarter of 2020, it will begin offering brand-new Premium Economy Class amenity kits created by Belgian bag and accessory brand Kipling, giving passengers in its popular, industry-leading cabin in-between Royal Laurel and Economy enhanced amenities and fashion. More information about EVA’s services and amenities and its routes is available at www.evaair.com.

While a few other airlines offered RIMOWA kits exclusively to first class passengers, EVA began raising the bar in 2013 by providing five generations of the sought-after amenities in nine different colors in its luxurious business cabin. The overnight kits have been popular with passengers and became collectables. EVA’s “Carmona Red” RIMOWA amenity kits are in limited supply and available only on the Taipei-Paris route November 15 – 30.

“EVA is consistently dedicated to delivering the most comfortable and luxurious passenger services possible,” said EVA President Clay Sun. “We choose top global brands that complement our high standards and work in cooperation with them to create world-class amenities and service items as part of our never-ending mission to innovate and deliver increasingly better flying experiences for our passengers.”

Salvatore Ferragamo Chosen to Design Luxurious Amenity Kits
EVA partnered with Italian luxury brand Salvatore Ferragamo to design new hard-case amenity kits in classically elegant black, making them the perfect accessories for the sophisticated dark colored duvet and Royal Laurel/Premium Laurel Class design. The new Ferragamo amenity kits will be available to all Royal Laurel/Premium Laurel Class passengers, departing from Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) on long-haul flights.

EVA began providing Ferragamo soft-bag amenity kits to Royal Laurel/Premium Laurel Class on long-haul flights to Taipei from the end of 2018. Now, it is presenting its second-generation of the amenity kits in an eye-catching design, blending Taiwan’s aboriginal rhombus totems with stylish western cultural elements. The new soft-sided bags were created to acquaint EVA’s passengers from around the globe with Taiwan’s art and culture. As a bonus, the new amenity kits come with exclusive Ferragamo key chains and will become available to passengers in mid-December.

EVA is also upgrading the amenity kit contents with Ferragamo’s best-selling Bianco Di Carrara fragrance by infusing the exclusive aroma into the body lotion, lip balm and hand cream offered inflight. Created by well-known perfumer Alexandra Carlin and launched in 2018, the floral woody musk-scented Bianco Di Carrara has been conceived for women and men. The popular scent’s top notes are calabrian bergamot, white pepper and ambrette or musk mallow with middle notes of violet, iris and heliotrope and base notes of amber, tonka bean and white suede.

Kipling Gives Style Practical Functions for Premium Economy
Marking the first time that Belgian bag and accessory leader has worked with an airline, Kipling’s exclusive Premium Economy Class amenity kits combine the brand’s most iconic design features in a stylishly shaped bag with a monkey key hanger and the landmark Taipei 101 Building. EVA expects the combined design elements to boost Taiwan tourism and become souvenirs for passengers who visit Taiwan. The new Premium Economy Class amenity kits will be offered to passengers, departing from Taipei, starting in the first quarter of 2020.

FURLA Creating Second-Generation Amenity Kits for Inbound Passengers
EVA is working with Italian fashion brand FURLA to introduce a second-generation overnight kit for Premium Economy Class passengers on long-haul flights to Taipei. The new kits are a larger version of FURLA’s adorable “Owl Bag,” making the new amenity kits both fashionable and practical. EVA will offer its second-generation FURLA Premium Economy Class amenity kits in the first quarter of 2020.

Jason Wu Presents His Second-generation Pajamas
After partnering with prominent fashion designer Jason Wu to create pajamas for Royal Laurel and Premium Laurel Class passengers on long-haul flights in 2019, the sleepwear proved to be so popular with passengers that EVA is collaborating with him for 2020. The airline will present its second-generation Jason Wu pajamas in January. Designed to be comfortable and easy to wear, the sleepwear is made of a soft, cozy fabric with draw-string collar and pant pockets. Available in medium, large and extra large, the pajamas accommodate different heights and body types and each size comes in a different color.

EVA has partnered with several international famous brands to give passengers top-quality amenity kits over the years. In 2019, EVA’s thoughtful and fashionable designs were honored as the “Best Business Class Amenity Kit,” “Best Premium Economy Class Amenity Kit” and more at the World Travel Catering & Onboard Services EXPO, known as the “Service Suppliers Oscars.”
